Anyone know of a good cable wireless router for Comcast?  I have a client that wants Internet service using Comcast and they also want wireless, but they don't want two devices.

You lease the comcast equipment.  Just like a cable box.  The wireless upgrade i think is 5.00 where the regular is 2 or 3.  Hell even direct tv hits you with a lease on the equipment if you don't buy it out of the store.

i might be wrong but unless they are bootleging I think they have to go that way.  Now, they have bootleg routers so one could believe there are bootleg wireless ones too.  Not worth the headache for me support.  60 bucks a year to lease the stuff.  But to each their own.

60 bucks /year is not a lot of money, but if you keep your ISP for two or > years , you'll kick yourself for not purchasing the equipment.  I have a router that I have been using for 4 years....I would hate it if I had leased it...

Ok, I see your point but you mentioned a client.  One call back about the router and you've eaten the cost of two years lease time.  I'm a tech like you and I lease.  Not because I don't know how, but 3-5 dollars a month to get it replaced if something goes wrong is the cost of business to me.

I equate it like this...... sacraficing a Whopper combo a month wont destroy my budget.  Considering I pay 212 in wireless services and another 69 on internet.

But your point is valid.

Tell your customer that they would not be saving any money. 3-5 bucks a month is exactly what you will pay for a cable modem that is compatible with comcast. 1 year down the road, comcast may change something and you will be stuck with a useless cable modem/wireless router. Bellsouth / AT&T offers a modem that is also a wireless router. I'd stick with comcast. Tell the customer that you cannot allow them to rape themselves financialy and will not be a part of it Smiley.

I tried to convinced the client to rent the modem, but just they are being hard headed.  In the end you always do as the client request.  I just advised them that I will be happy to take their monies for service calls.....
