Hey fellow techs out there. Hope all is well in MDCPS.
Question for anyone out there. Has anyone heard of good VDI systems and some pros and cons? My new jobs just finish a full datacenter migratation to VMware for Servers and now are looking towards the desktop. However it systems a better hard to find some info on VDI stuff.
Thanks in advance.

You mean like thin client computing right? Look up Citrix. They even have thin client hardware out there. I believe I seen it on the Lenovo website around Christmas time.

Pro's
Lowend computer's that can handle a number of basic tasks.
No need to worry about lost files if computer breaks.
Easy to install new apps to network
Con's
Slows down networks.
Princing$$$
Training for both users and admins if no previous experience.
Good size server or servers dependent on network size.
The biggest prob. for most is the pricing and servers.

We are currently looking into the XEN Citrix and also the new VMware stuff. Just trying to see what else is out there and if anyone has had any experience with them.
No need to worry about network speed or servers. We use cisco switches stacked, so each machine has a 1GB to them with a 32GB backbone. And the servers we already have an IBM H Bladecenter which our VMware enviroment is on.
So overall just need feed back on what is ggod out there before we drop some major money into this.
